Custom domains

Connect a domain you own from Settings in the site workspace. Wirechunk shows the DNS records needed for the specific address and tracks the connection and HTTPS certificate status.

Prepare the address

Decide whether to use the root domain, such as example.com, or a subdomain, such as www.example.com. Make sure you can edit DNS at the provider that manages the domain’s records.

Keep a record of the existing website configuration before changing it. Mail, domain verification, and other services may use records in the same DNS zone.

Connect the domain

  1. Open Settings and find Domain.
  2. Enter the custom domain under Change site address.
  3. Follow the exact DNS instructions shown for that domain.
  4. Save the records at the DNS provider and request a connection check in Wirechunk.
  5. Review the DNS and HTTPS status until the new address is ready.

Use the values shown in the app rather than copying an address from another site’s setup. DNS changes can take time to become visible, and certificate provisioning is a separate part of the connection.

A replacement domain remains pending while the current address serves the site. Wirechunk switches the address when the pending connection and HTTPS are ready.

Check the published site

Open the connected address over HTTPS. Check the home page, important page paths, navigation, and forms. Connecting the domain and publishing draft changes are separate operations; publish the content you want visitors to see.

If you are moving an existing website, review the old page paths and the handling of any changed URLs. Connecting a domain does not itself create redirects for all previous paths.

Troubleshoot or disconnect

If a check fails, compare the records at your provider with the app’s instructions. Look for conflicting records and confirm that you are editing the authoritative DNS provider. Use the reported status to distinguish DNS issues from HTTPS provisioning.

You can cancel a pending replacement or disconnect a custom domain from the site’s domain controls. Review the site’s remaining address before disconnecting the one customers use.
