Connect your AI agent to Wirechunk

Use the management MCP endpoint to let an external agent work on your sites:

https://app.wirechunk.com/mcp

This endpoint requires your authorization. The public MCP endpoint on a customer website has a different address and purpose.

Connect from ChatGPT on Mac or Windows

You can use the ChatGPT desktop app to create and update Wirechunk sites.

  1. Click Plugins in ChatGPT’s left sidebar.

  2. Click Add in the upper-right corner, then choose Create MCP App.

  3. Enter these details:

    Field Value
    Name Wirechunk
    Server URL https://app.wirechunk.com/mcp
    Authentication OAuth
  4. Click Create, then follow the connection prompts. Sign in to your Wirechunk account and approve access.

  5. Return to ChatGPT and ask “Use Wirechunk to list the sites I can manage” to test the MCP connection.

Once connected, describe what you want to build or change. For example:

Use Wirechunk to update my business hours to Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

Your agent uses your existing Wirechunk permissions.

Connect through remote MCP

  1. Open the external AI app’s remote MCP or connector settings.
  2. Add the management URL above.
  3. Follow the sign-in flow to Wirechunk.
  4. Review the client asking for access and approve the connection you intend to use.
  5. Return to the AI app and ask the agent to list the Wirechunk sites available to your account.

The client handles OAuth and token renewal. Your current account and site permissions determine which operations the agent can perform. A connection does not automatically grant access to sites owned by someone else.

The exact connector labels differ between AI apps. Use a client that supports the remote MCP authorization flow; a plain chat window without a connector cannot use the management endpoint just by being shown its URL.

Connect through the browser

A browser agent can use WebMCP tools exposed by the Wirechunk app while you are signed in. This uses the current browser session and the app’s available management tools.

Keep the site and account context clear in your request. Ask the agent to inspect the current content before making a change and to show you a preview of the result.

Troubleshoot access

If authorization fails, check that the URL is app.wirechunk.com/mcp and that you signed into the intended account. Confirm any pending site invitation and verify the email address used for it.

If a connection was revoked, reconnect and approve access again. An expired token and a missing site permission are different problems; repeated authorization cannot grant a permission the account does not have.

Disconnect an agent

Open the app’s connections area and remove the external agent’s authorization when you no longer need it. This revokes that client’s management access without signing you out of your normal browser session.
